As wide spread panic crosses the entire world and paths of literally billions of people, so does a mass shortage of yes toilet paper. Why toilet paper though?Adding to the nation’s long list of worries sparked by the novel coronavirus pandemic, the shortage of toilet paper is real.
Store shelves in many places have been picked clean in recent days of single-ply and double-ply, single and jumbo rolls, the cheap stuff and the luxurious quilted squares, too.
Now, the lack of toilet paper in the United States has hit some Giant supermarkets and Costco stores. Amazon appeared to be down to single rolls of novelty toilet paper in some places Friday. Other stores handed out even single rolls and or singled packs of the same.
The one thing, that gets me, is why the hoarding of toilet paper, can’t eat that.
Corrections & Clarifications: An earlier version of this story misidentified the outbreak of coronavirus as a pandemic.
Keep calm and stop hoarding. The spread of coronavirus in the U.S. won’t wipe out our toilet paper supply. Or supplies of hand sanitizer, bottled water and ramen.
That is, unless the frenzied stampedes for hand sanitizer and bottled water continue at their current pace.
Just the other day I went to the supermarket because we were running out of toilet paper, not because we were going to hoard it, but because we quite simply needed to wipe our own asses also. We soon found out, there was none to be found.
Some people may seem poop out of luck when trying to buy toilet paper, at least momentarily. That’s because the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak has led to toilet paper hoarding and subsequent shortages in stores in different parts of the world, such as Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, and the U.S. among others as well.
The discrepancy between what people are doing and what authorities are saying has made many on social media to essentially ask the toilet paper stockpilers, “what are you doing.” Or “what have you done” or dung, such as this tweet:
If you are one of the people who has panic-bought a 6-month supply of toilet paper I think you should go home and look at your enormous pile of toilet paper and think about what you’ve done.
