MARTINSBURG — A large blaze Sunday evening destroyed a two-story Hedgesville home owned by Shepherdstown Police Chief Mike King, according to the Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Department.
Luckily, Captain Bradley Crowell said King, another occupant of the home and two dogs were not injured and were safely able to exit the home when the fire started.
The call was dispatched at 6:51 p.m. to the home on Rotterham Drive, which is approximately a mile and a half from the Woods Resort in Hedgesville.
Crowell described the home as a total loss. He added multiple vehicles and a boat were also burned.
“By the time of the arrival of the first unit, the home was 100% involved,” he said.
Propane tanks at the home luckily did not explode but vented off, Crowell said.

To assist the King family A GoFundMe account has been set up. If you wished to assist and or help the King family please do
As much as I feel for someone who lost their home to fire. I cannot in good conscience donate to a GoFundMe account, while the fire is under investigation. Particularly after this most recent arrest. Bad coincidence? Or bad karma?
