The GOONIES IS A 1985 FILM that gained nationwide attention along our Oregon’s own coast. There is a house that seems to be grabbing about 1,000 visitors a day.The problem is the house owners although Iam sure knowing their house was part of a major motion picture, does not welcome it seems visitors. The current home owners have placed Blue ugly tarps all around their home, so to discourage Tourist, who may be wanting that last look before perhaps passing by the tiny town of Astoria.

In order to save their home from foreclosure, a group of misfits set out to find a pirate’s ancient treasure. The film  featured director Richard Donner  the big named writer Steven Spielberg. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089218/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm

ASTORIA, Ore. — An Astoria home made famous by “The Goonies” movie was covered with blue tarp recently, in an attempt to deter hundreds of sightseers.

A KATU News viewer sent in photos of the home Monday afternoon, showing blue tarp covering much of the home’s windows and porch.

Owners also left a sign at the home’s driveway that reads, “Access closed to Goonies house.”

Earlier this summer, KATU News spoke with neighbors who say they were never consulted about the home being a defacto tourist destination in their small town.

“We put up a private property, no trespassing a few years ago because people are actually coming up, knocking on our door, and asking us where the Goonies house was,” Astoria resident Mary Miller said.
